Congratulations to all that competed. Teams travelled from Mt Isa & all the way from Perth and the Real Balls promotions did a magic job of the commentary.
Thanks to all our supporters for making it possible to run such a great event, along with our officials, canteen volunteers who provided good service and great food.
It was good to have the Alice Springs Motor Cycle Club who ran a quad 6hour & a bike 12 hour right out the front of the canteen great viewing of both cars and bikes. Action started on Saturday with car & bike prologue and in between we had some Trophy Karts demo runs. Sunday saw the bike and car 12 hour races run, a lot of action in both, there will be a story in next edition of Dirt Comp Magazine.
The 12Hour lap record has been broken and a new target set for future aspirants. Twenty-eight laps were completed in a time of 11h 47m 02s by the winning team from Alice Springs 'Hookers and Pints' who will take home a cool $5000 for their efforts. Greg Hicks, Shane Braitling and Craig Prettejohn in the #123 Southern Cross Pro Lite teamed up with the #5 Pro Class Jimco of Andrew Pinto and Jol Pritchard to form a formidable combination that absolutely dominated the field for the entire race distance. On lap three Greg Hicks recorded the fastest lap of the event, a time of 23m 37s and Pinto a 23m 38s on lap 19.
Every year around late July there is a certain air of excitement at Real Balls headquarters as the team awaits their annual journey to the great “Red Centre” for the Sporties 12 Hour Enduro.
So as in previous years Jodie and I jumped aboard the flying red kangaroo and made the quick trip to receive the typical Alice Springs hospitality – awesome. After picking up our ride from L & M Autos we spent the next 24 hours catching up with our friends, co-hosting the morning Breakky show with Locky on Sun FM and preparing for the Friday night scrutiny in the Todd Mall.
